I’ll tell you what I have zero tolerance for. Dickheads that post shit like this on Facebook, that’s what.

It pisses me off no end, that stupid fucking idiots take it upon themselves to post shit like this, that has absolutely no factual information on it, and absolutely no basis for their ‘claims’

I get that the point they are trying to make is that police speed cameras and radars can be distratcting when you see them, or know they are there. I dont necessarily agree with the point, but I do get it.

But the simple fact is – There is nothing to say that the 17 deaths in 2015 were caused by either speed, nor by inattention because of a police radar. Or anything else for that matter. You cant tell me that there is evidence to support that the police having a zero tolerance to speeding has more than doubled the fatalities in 2015 from previous years. I call BS on that.

If everyone sticks to the speed limits, doesnt drive like a total fuckwit (and yes, I have seen a few of these this past year) and just drives carefully, then chances are they wont get booked by the Police for speeding, and subsequently have no reason to BE distracted when and if they see a speed camera.

If I am driving down the road doing 80km/h in an 80km/h zone, and I see a speed camera, I dont panic. I dont suddenly hit the brakes to slow down to 70km/h ‘just to be sure’. I certainly dont get so distracted by the camera that I crash my car. I just keep driving at the 80km/h speed limit. Lawfully, legally and (hopefully) safely.

Dont get me wrong. Everytime I read things claiming speed cameras are just revenue raisers and do nothing to solve a problem, I do in part agree. HOWEVER – If you dont speed, then you wont get caught, you dont have to concern yourself about it. Just go on your merry way, driving within the limits and the laws.

And whatever you do, DONT go blaming every fucking tragic road accident on speed or not driving safely to the conditions.

And even moreso, DONT BLAME THE POLICE.
