At some stage in your life, everyone will get one. That bill that was unexpected, or perhaps more often, that bill that was unexpectedly HIGH.
Power Bills. Water Bills. Phone Bills. They seem to be the ones we see on A Current Affair or Today Tonight regularly.
In particular, the same old story of “Oh I didnt read all the fine print. And didnt realise I would get charged $5 a minute for Calling a 75yo granny with a sexy voice, pretending to be 21, telling me what shes wearing”. Idiots.
FYI – This blog post is NOT for those people.
This post is for those people who are smart with their bills, and want to keep track of them, and their spending.
In Tasmania, we have the advantage (Theres a sentence I never thought I would type) of Aurora Energy providing a bill predictor tool online, where you enter your current meter readings, and it will estimate your bill based on average useage, but even better, will tell you EXACTLY what you owe at that minute.
Which means you can them pay a fortnightly payment based on your prediction to that day, and then keep your balance at about $0.
No more surprise $1000 power bills.
I have also created a spreadsheet to do the same with our Water bills
Its all part of the Frugal 2016 plan. May not be more frugal as we sont use less power, but at least we keep track of it now.
